Children's Programs

Christ & Grace offers many educational and fun opportunities for children. The Music Program offers a Children’s Choir, and Christian Education provides creative programs for all ages. All teachers are trained through the Safe Children Program, which is required by our Diocese.

Nursery   The Nursery Program on Sunday morning is for infants to children three years old. The goal of the Nursery Program is to provide a safe, healthy and pleasant environment for this age child. Parent and teenage volunteers staff the nursery.

Sunday School   Classes are offered during the academic year –- beginning the Sunday after Labor Day in September through the Sunday before Memorial Day in May -- for everyone from age 3 through adult. Classes are from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m.   All class assignments are based on the age or current grade placement in school.  Teams of two teachers for each age level assume the ministry of teaching for the school year.  Adults meet in the Parish Hall.

Preschool-5th Grace Living the Good News is the current curriculum used in our classrooms.  Following the lectionary text, children explore the same Bible stories that are heard through the lessons read in the morning worship services.  Age-appropriate activities involving drama, writing, art and crafts allow for children to engage in these lessons during classroom time. The lessons are further addressed in a children’s message during the 10:30 worship service.

Children’s Chapel   This program takes place after the children’s message during the 10:30 worship service. Children’s Chapel is planned for children who are ages 3 through 7 years old. During these 35-to-40-minute periods, children are encouraged to simply play with one another using their imaginations in learning centers.   Painting, play dough, building blocks and other mediums are provided to encourage each child to use his/her sense of wonder about God and about each other.  Seasonal music and an occasional video are provided to enhance this time for supervised free play.

Vacation Bible School   VBS is a highlight of summer for many children in our community. It is held Monday – Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  Children from age 3 through 5th grade are invited to participate. In addition to being a wonderful time for the children to learn through singing, dancing, storytelling and playing games, it is also a fun experience for the teen and adult volunteers. It’s a great opportunity for our community to come together and watch the Holy Spirit at work.
